For the first time in more than 15 years, Democrats believe they’ve got a chance to win control of the Wisconsin Assembly. To do so, they’ll need to defend all of their incumbents and flip at least five seats currently held by Republicans. Baylor Spears reports on the state of the battleground races and which districts are set to decide majority control.
Nurses at 10 clinics in Dane County operated by SSM Health voted by 71% last week to form a union. Henry Redman reports on the clinic union drive, which comes just months after nurses at SSM’s St. Mary’s Hospital voted to start a union and faced significant opposition from hospital leadership.
Lawmakers of both parties are criticizing the Trump administration after the White House Office of Management and Budget announced it would be canceling $810 million previously approved by Congress to go toward refugee programs, climate change investments and minority business grants. Jennifer Shutt of our DC Bureau reports on the “pocket recission” and what it could mean for future budget negotiations.
