Dozens of Republican voters, clad in a mix of GOP red and Brewer navy blue, crowded into Whiskey Run Distillery in New Glarus to hear U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, the Republican candidate for governor of Wisconsin, make his closing argument Monday night. Henry Redman reports on Tiffany’s “common sense” bus tour.

In other news, Redman joined the fans gathered at American Family Field Tuesday to watch the fourth game of the World Series on giant screens, hoping to see the Milwaukee Brewers win their first World Series. The Brewers lost in the bottom of the 12th inning and head into game five Wednesday in Florida against the Tampa Bay Rays with a 3-1 lead.

Louise K. Waakaa’igan, a poet and member of the Anishinaabe (Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa) tribe in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, was honored at an event featuring writers who have been in prison, and some who are still incarcerated. Frank Zufall reports on their work and their mentors at the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop.

An Oshkosh middle school teacher has been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, causing shock and confusion in her community. A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed that on Oct. 14, ICE arrested Wendy Mendez, a Spanish teacher at the Vel Phillips Middle School. Isiah Holmes has the latest.
